The Data Source Filter

The “Data Source” filter can be used to explore articles obtained from different sources. Users can choose from the following options (Figure 1):

  • PubMed Central: Open access full-text articles published in biomedical and life sciences journals
  • MEDLINE: Journal citations and abstracts of biomedical literature
  • ClinicalTrials.gov: The largest clinical trials database of  clinical studies on a wide range of diseases and conditions
  • Preprints: More than 120,000 preprint documents from bioRxiv and medRxiv
  • GWAS catalog: A curated collection of all human genome-wide association studies
  • USPTO: Records of US patent applications maintained by the United States Patent and Trademark Office

Figure 1: The “Data Source” filter.  The numbers in brackets indicate the number of articles under a specific Data Source, in the Articles tab. For example, there are 77K articles found within the “MEDLINE” source, 8 articles within the “GWAS catalog” source etc. 

Use Case: Clinical Trials Of Drugs For Psoriatic Arthritis.

To explore this use case in Causaly, the powerful and time-saving filters of the Intelligent Search Module will be used.  

Initially, the search will include all possible treatments for Psoriatic Arthritis (link). 

Subsequently, in order to filter for clinical trials, the user can use the “Data Source” filter and  select the results that originate from the ClinicalTrials.gov website (Figure 2).

The articles displayed will only contain clinical trials of pharmacologic substances related to psoriatic arthritis obtained from the ClinicalTrials.gov website (Figure 3).
