The Journals Filter

Causaly identifies evidence from several Data Sources, as listed here. The “Journals” filter can be used to explore publications in scientific journals, derived from these sources.

The user can specify the journals of interest by selecting the boxes next to journal names (Figure 1) or by using the search bar (Figure 2).

Figure 1: Select the boxes on the left, to refine the results to articles from specific journals. Numbers in brackets indicate the number of manuscripts in a Journal, in the Articles tab. For example, there are 5,301 publications in Plos One journal, 3,286 in Scientific Reports etc.

Figure 2: Type the journal name of interest in this box.

The journals are sorted by Article Count. Therefore, those that include the most articles related to a Concept of interest appear in the Top 10 list. You can explore the whole list by clicking on the “+SHOW ALL” button below the Top 10 journals.

Use Case: COVID-19 Biomarkers In the Journal Of Medical Virology

To explore this use case in Causaly, the powerful and time-saving filters of the Intelligent and Advanced Search Modules will be used.

Initially, we will search for all biomarkers of COVID-19. Subsequently, in order to filter for publications that originate from the “Journal of Medical Virology”, the “Journals” filter will be used (Figure 3).

The exact search results can be found here.

Figure 3: Selecting the  “Journal of Medical Virology” option under the “Journals” filter. Numbers in brackets indicate the number of articles under a specific category, in the Articles tab. For example, there are 29 articles obtained from the Journal of Medical Virology, 5 articles from Nature etc.  Journals that have no manuscripts associated with the query, such as the Bmj Clinical Research Ed in the example above, are displayed with a light-grey color.

The articles displayed relate to biomarkers of COVID-19 that have been published in the Journal of Medical Virology (Figure 4).
