Why can't I find Concept ___ ?

In Causaly, all entry terms are linked to the Unified Medical Language System (UMLS) ontology. When you start typing a term, the system will suggest the top 7 relevant Concepts, as found in the ontology. By default, when you select a specific Concept, all narrower Concepts will be included for increased sensitivity.

In case you cannot find a Concept:

A. Check the spelling of the term

B. If you typed in an abbreviation, try typing the whole term instead to ensure you get to the correct Concept. In some cases, more than one concept has the same abbreviation and the Concept you are looking for might not be shown in the top suggestions.

C. You might need to use a specific symbol, e.g. a hyphen, or remove it in order to find the correct Concept.

In cases the concept you are interested in doesn't exist in the UMLS ontology, you can perform a free-text search, Causaly gives you the opportunity to type one or more words of interest and explore the associated results.
